All students in Global Leadership must fulfill these requirements in order to remain part of the GL community and on our floors in Matheson and Perry Halls. 

Requirements


Global Leadership has five requirements for all community members. As a GL student, you must:

  • Pay an $800 student activity fee 
    • Paid in two installments of $400 each semester
    • 100% of this fee goes towards activities, trips, and lounge supplies offered exclusively to Global Leadership students.
  • Reside in Matheson or Perry Halls on East Campus
  • Take a 3-credit Global Leadership course taken fall semester of first-year:
  • Take a course in spring from an approved list of sustainability or globally-focused classes:
    • The spring GL course often fulfills other GT requirements such as social science, ethics, health, or English.
      • The spring courses list will be released in October, based on current availability.
  • Participate in the Fall and Spring retreat
    • Through these shared experiences, students get to know one another and build relationships essential for a successful living-learning community.
    • Past retreats include a ropes course, escape the room, minute-to-win-it Olympics, and adult big wheels racing.

Expectations

In addition to the requirements, Global Leadership students are expected to take an active role in building a welcoming and safe community for all members by treating all with respect, participating in group events and taking care of communal spaces and property.

Matheson and Perry Residence Halls

All Global Leadership students must live on the first two floors of Matheson and Perry Residence Halls located on East Campus. These floors are reserved exclusively for GL including two recently renovated lounges on the first floors of Matheson and Perry. Lounge amenities include coffee, snacks, 3D printer, printer, electric pianos, games, lending library, and art supplies.
