Global Leadership students attend a mandatory retreat each semester. Through these shared experiences, students get to know one another and build respectful relationships essential for sharing a living and learning space. Retreats are required for all Global Leadership students and take place during the day, at the beginning of each semester.

Past retreats include big wheel races, ropes course, sporting events and mini-Olympics. We believe that students who laugh together can work together, and our retreats aim to create those shared memories.

  Global Leadership students work hard and play hard! While not required, our monthly activities give students a chance to build community and get off campus. Past monthly events include white water rafting on the Ocoee River, an Atlanta United game, the Georgia State fair, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the World of Coca-Cola, all-LLC lip sync battle, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, pre-finals yoga, Atlanta Pride parade and a civil rights bike tour of Atlanta.

Through student action teams, Global Leadership students have the chance to organize their own events for the community. Student teams of 5-10 are given a budget of $500 each semester to host events. In the past, Action Teams have organized intramural sports teams, a celebration of rice dishes around the world, pumpkin carving, and an Oscars movie night.

Global Leadership students have the option to connect with GL alums through the mentorship program. Mentors are former Global Leadership students who are eager to share their experiences and lessons learned with first-year GL students.

They come from different majors and backgrounds but share a desire to remain a part of the GL community throughout their time at Georgia Tech!
